It appears that Florida will be spared.
The National Hurricane Center tracking Tropical Storm Fiona has a confident trajectory showing the system moving away from the British Virgin Islands, brushing Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic with high winds and heavy rain before taking a right-hand turn northward.
The storm is soon expected to strengthen into a hurricane and possibly affect the Turks and Caicos and southern Bahamas islands as it steers a more northerly course out into the mid-Atlantic.
