| ‘EXTREME’ WATER SHORTAGE: The St. Johns River Water Management District has declared a Phase III “extreme” water shortage for Northeast Florida. The region had been under a “severe” water shortage since March due to the prolonged drought. Even though we’ve seen some rain this week, it was merely a drop in the bucket of what’s needed. The upgraded shortage means further water restrictions are in place. Watering your lawn is only allowed one day a week (Saturday if your street address is an odd number, Sunday for even-numbered addresses, and Tuesday for nonresidential properties), and watering is prohibited between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Unnecessary or aesthetic water use is prohibited, and commercial and industrial users must suspend any non-essential water use. Learn more about the restrictions and how you can conserve water. (Jacksonville Today) |
