Paddling the Silver River

By Peter Clayton

Eight of us enjoyed a memorable paddle on one of Florida’s best rivers – six manatees, countless anhingas, several pairs of wood ducks and a lone duckling, a few smallish gators and plenty of large leaping fish – the Silver never disappoints.

David Stern made his inaugural outing and Marty Mariner earned a coveted MCK Dunk Club sticker. The latter was due to low water levels causing the aluminum ramp at the rest stop dock to be shorter so that when Marty went to step onto the ramp, he went about 2′ deeper onto the river bottom.
