| FARAH SUSPENDED: The Florida Supreme Court has suspended prominent Jacksonville attorney Chuck Farah from practicing law for 90 days due to his handling of a class action lawsuit against tobacco companies. The court found Farah violated Florida Bar rules when he filed thousands of personal injury claims against tobacco companies for smokers who said smoking made them sick. The court said Farah, a senior partner at the Farah & Farah law firm, took on far more clients than he could reasonably handle and failed to adequately communicate with clients or provide them “diligent” representation. In addition to the suspension, he has to pay more than $2 million in legal fees and attend Florida Bar Ethics School. (Dan Scanlan, Jacksonville Today) |
