Viva The Park!

The Marsh Creek Community Park – aka “The Park” – is getting increased attention, and last week was the scene of a double-header. The beautiful green space alongside Wandering Lakes boasts a lovely pond with pier, a gazebo, a children’s playground, and benches for moments of rest and solitude under the sheltering shade of trees. And doggie-bag stations too.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Mirzai Production Team – AKA Sharon and Mo – staged yet another successful Concert in the Park there. This one featured Creekers Tim and Sharon Haszard – AKA The Haszards – who returned following last week’s health-related postponement. The duo was in great spirits. On that beautifully pleasant afternoon with comfortable temperatures, they drew a good crowd with plenty of room for safe and comfortable seating.

Then on Friday afternoon, same setting, different group. The Spoonbill Neighbors held a “Happy Hour”. It was the new group’s first effort, and was fun, successful, and well attended. (See previous Spoonbill stories to learn more about the Spoonbill Neighbors and how to join).

Neighbors brought lawn chairs and adult beverages. The organizers, Lisa Stern and Lorri Maloney brought the music, decorations, name tags, snacks, and games and were perfect hostesses.

Lisa and Lorri summed up the afternoon event: “The community park was the perfect setting for the inaugural gathering of the Spoonbill Neighbors’ Happy Hour group. The weather was perfect, the music was hopping, the drinks were flowing and everyone enjoyed making new friends!”
