Clean water and working sewage systems are utilities we tend to take for granted – a major project is currently underway in Marsh Creek which exemplifies why those services work well here. Monitoring of our 30 year old sewer system led the Utilities Department to recently initiate an upgrade of our equipment.
Marsh Creek has five sewer lift stations which serve as pumps to overcome elevation changes and the distances our sewage is transported through our pipe system. Three of them are undergoing replacement with updated equipment – two are located next to golf course restrooms (Marsh Point Circle near Kalli Creek and Marshside Drive beside the golf practice area) the other on Heron’s Nest between Marshside Dr. and Fiddler’s Pt. The other two have been inspected and don’t need repair/upgrade at this time.
The county’s Water & Sewer Dept. is overseeing the project but using an outside contractor – it should be completed by mid-Spring as work has continued through the pandemic. Marsh Creek has an important relationship with the Utilities Department as both the Club and MCOA utilize recycled water for irrigation. We are hoping that an “open house” of the facilities outside the Mizell gate will broaden our understanding and appreciation of their services.
