Join us tomorrow, Tue., May 20th, at 5pm for the SJC County Commissioners meeting to Stop the Swap! Would be great to have as many people there as possible.    If you’re unable to attend in person, the meeting will be available as a live broadcast and video-on-demand through the County’s television channel.   Date: Tue., 5/20 Time: 5PM Location: County Administration Building 500 San Sebastian View, St. Augustine   See you there!

It seems the battle to save what little remains of natural Florida from developers is never-ending. Last year, a massive public outcry succeeded in derailing Governor Ron DeSantis’ state parks give-away to donor/developers aiming to tear up Anastasia and other State Parks to plunk down a hotel and golf or pickle ball courts on these remnants of pristine Old Florida.

The newest threat is here: the imminent threat to the Guana River Preserve. If you didn’t read the earlier Spoonbill Courier story and are unfamiliar with this issue, you can catch up HERE.

There is more to this story, thanks to sleuthing by an individual with talent in deep research. It appears that a conveniently abutting and contiguous piece of land (circled in red) is owned by the parent company of the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club, a development sure to be discussed Tuesday. It may be more than a coincidence,
