Tropical Depression Fred Potential Impacts per NWS Jacksonville:
- Under the current forecast track, squalls of rain coming in from the ocean along the east coast can be expected on Sunday and Monday.
- Tropical storm force winds are not expected.

Tropical Depression Fred is currently located about 80 miles west of Great Inagua Island or about 230 miles east of Camaguey Cuba. Fred is moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph, and this motion with a decrease in forward speed is expected during the next couple of days, followed by a turn to the northwest. Fred is expected to move across the southeastern Bahamas today, move along or just north of eastern and central Cuba later today and Friday, and be near the Florida Keys and south Florida on Saturday.
Tropical Depression Fred has sustained winds of 35 mph with higher gusts mainly in squalls to the northeast of the center. Little change in strength is forecast today, Slow strengthening is expected Friday through Saturday, and Fred is forecast to regain tropical-storm strength during that time.

Thank you for this warning, Brian. I wish the person who named the storm had done a better job. It sounds comical and seems to trivialize the danger. “Hey, Fred’s coming!” “Yeah? Well tell him to wait.” A name like Tropical Depression Thor would have been better.
