Don’t Miss Out on an evening filled with Food-Dancing-Drinks and time with Family and Friends
Escape to Greece during Greek Festival – Taverna Styleat Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church!
The Annual St. Augustine Greek Festival is shaking things up during this year’s event to provide guests a truly authentic Greek experience!
Why Taverna style? Because breaking bread with family and friends is one of the cornerstones of Greek culture!
Happening October 11th and 12th, Greek Festival – Taverna Style will transport guests to a charming Greek restaurant. Reserve your space to enjoy an authentic lunch or dinner in the festive ambiance customary for Greek tavernas.
At the Greek Festival – Taverna Style, guests will enjoy an authentic sit-down, multi-course meal, Greek wine, the sounds of Greek music and traditional Greek folk dancing.
The Taverna event will feature three seatings:
Dinner: Friday, October 11th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Luncheon: Saturday, October 12th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Dinner: Saturday, October 12th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The event also provides shopping opportunities at the Church’s Agora (market), the St. Theodora’s Gift Shop and Bookstore as well as the Zaharoplastio (for pastries and treats to take home!).
The Kafenio will be serving up Greek frappes, and friendly bartenders will have plenty of ouzo lemonade, beer and wine available for purchase.
In ancient Greece, food was considered a sacred offering to the gods, and the preparation and consumption of food was believed to strengthen the connection between mortals and the divine. Today, eating is a social event for Greeks, and meals are a way to share food, socialize and enjoy each other’s company. Furthermore, food is a physical expression of love and hospitality, and Greeks take great pride in their cooking and the ritual of meals.
The Greek historian Plutarch famously said, “We do not sit at the table to eat… but to eat together.”
We look forward to breaking bread with you on October 11th and 12th. Kali Orexi!
