Third Thanksgiving “Share the Feast” Food Drive is under way!

By Louise Nelson

We have just received a supply of shopping bags and a list of needed food items requested by the kind folks at the Homeless Coalition of St. Johns County, and for the third year, we again appeal to Marsh Creek residents to join in stuffing these bags with Thanksgiving food items for families in the care of the St. Johns Homeless Coalition.

Where do I pick up a bag?

Louise Nelson’s home on 209 Fiddlers Point Drive

For everyone’s convenience, the bags will be in the wooden box on the Nelson front porch. Each bag will go to a designated family and come with specific food item suggestions.

Where do I return a bag?

THREE LOCATIONS:

  1. Louise Nelson on 209 Fiddlers Point Drive
  2. Melody Ness on 401 Misty Morning Lane
  3. Patty Damon on 408 Players Ct.

Please leave the bags on the porch if no one is home.

Please return bags between Nov 18-24

All of the donated food bags will be delivered to the Homeless Coalition at 1pm Monday November 25th, in time for Thanksgiving.

What if we run out of bags?

If we run out of bags – and we hope, we do – just fill a bag of your own with some of the items below and deliver it to one of the locations above.

What Items are Needed?

Boxed Mac & Cheese / Canned Corn, Green Beans, Carrots or seasoned greens/ Jello & Canned Fruit / Instant Mashed Potatoes, any variety / Cake Mix & Frosting / Mayo/ Pork and Beans/Rice, stuffing mix or hot rolls mix/ Gravy mix/Candy / Muffin, Roll or Biscuit Mix / Peanut Butter and jelly/ Juice / Canned Meat or Fish/ Mayo.  Also needed are Shampoo, Toothpaste & toothbrushes/ Soap bars/ Dishwashing liquid.

Can I give cash instead, or cash as well?

If you wish, and your schedule or capability precludes shopping for these items, cash donations can be made directly to the St. Johns County Homeless Coalition at https://homelesscoalitionstjohns.com.

All of your generosity will be be put to good use. Surplus food will be donated to the St. Johns County Food Pantry and benefit other homeless single adults and veterans.

Thank you for helping the less fortunate in our community celebrate a Thanksgiving Meal.
