(Mar 26, 2025) The weather was ideal with blue skies and plenty of sun with a light breeze which ten of us enjoyed while paddling from the Vilano Landing boat ramp on A-1-A to the city docks. The tide was a couple of hours short of high so we couldn’t explore the edge of the Fountain of Youth property but we did meet Haley, a Florida Fish & Wildlife employee, on Yuengling Island. She was part of a team putting up warning signs about least tern nesting sites including some areas which were roped off. A native cornhusker and wildlife management grad from the University of Nebraska, she was accepted for an internship here five years ago and “doesn’t miss the snow”. Tom Walsh joined us for lunch at Beaches where we basked in 70+ degrees on the deck by the water – Photos by Stan Hill to follow.
