THE Montreal Bagel

I’m getting a little off topic this morning, considering this story has little to do with Marsh Creek. But as you know from past reading, the Spoonbill Courier celebrates good food, albeit local, through the stellar dining reports from star gourmet correspondent, Irene Merenda.

As this report below makes pretty clear, tipping your toe into the debate over where to eat the “North America’s Best Bagel” can stir passions and the loyal ire of any gourmand on the losing side. Therefore, I ask our New York area neighbors to read this with an open mind and maybe an empty stomach.

If you like biting into a good bagel, then there is nothing as tasty as a MONTREAL bagel.

Leave comments below. This ought to be fun.

Here’s the link to the story in Fodor’s Travel:

Now, do you want to have a personal taste test? Here’s how to order Montreal bagels shipped directly to your home in Marsh Creek. Click on the link below and look for “Bagels Shipped to Your Door”. .

  1. If you are going to talk about Montreal foods, you might as well start with the king of them all …. Montreal Smoked Meat.

  2. We’ll have to try the Montreal Bagel! As original Baltimoreans, we’ve been on the search for the past 10 years. The local bagel shop was just ok for a while, but quality seems to have diminished..lol we now call their product “white bread bagels”.

  3. Bagel trivia: Marsh Creek’s own Harvey Boxer made bagels at Levi’s Bakery in Belmar, N.J. at age thirteen. Did you know bagel dough is twisted into shape and then tossed iinto hot water? Nowadays, if bagels happen to appear on the home front, Harv likes to scoop out the doughy middle before toasting a half and topping it with butter and Swiss or cheddar cheese!

    1. There is a store right next to Trader Joe’s in Ponte Vedra that has pretty good bagels. Next time you make the trip to TJs check them out.
