St. Johns County Covid Positivity “Very High”

Worrisome

The latest data from the CDC points to a new Covid resurgence in St. Johns County. Overall, the Covid rate in the county rates as “medium”, but that figure maybe be an under-count, due to Florida’s practice of reporting Covid rates only every two weeks.

The rapidly spreading Omicron subvariant known as BA.5 has become dominant among new coronavirus cases in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Together with BA.4, another subvariant, it is fueling a new rise of cases and hospitalizations.”

So, be careful. We’ve become quite complacent about mingling and not wearing masks. This is the time to re-think those habits.

  1. Thanks for this info, Brian. As the pandemic has trudged along, I find I don’t follow what our local positivity rate is anymore. This is a good reminder that’s it’s still with us and surging, apparently. We’ve ducked it so far, and we wish to remain COVID free!
