Pine Castle Thanks Marsh Creek

By Louise Nelson

The Pine Castle developmental learning center in Jacksonville has sent a note of thanks to Marsh Creek residents who purchased luminaries from the center for our community’s successful first-ever Marsh Creek Nights of Lights, organized by Spoonbill Neighbors. For those of you who did, this letter is for you!

Harlee’s email address is printed below so that you can provide her some feedback.

Spoonbill Neighbors will follow up on Pine Castle’s “Christmas in July” offer.

Good Morning or Afternoon Louise Nelson,

My name is Harlee Gadley and I am the Employment Advancement Officer at Pine Castle.

I am writing to thank you for your purchase of Luminary Kit(s) from Pine Castle last year! Because of your support, several of our participants were able to work and earn a paycheck during the Holiday season. Making and selling Luminary kits is an exciting time for those at Pine Castle, it provides great work experience and the opportunity for our participants to build community connections with customers.

Following up to ensure quality of work and customer satisfaction is something we find very important at Pine Castle. Our participants are always looking for ways to improve their products and services.

I would like to take this time to ask how your luminary kit worked for you? And if there are any areas for improvement that you noticed? Our participants appreciate any feedback offered.

This year we are looking to have “Christmas in July”. This will be an opportunity exclusive to existing customers in which they are able to pre-order their luminary kits before the Holiday season. As always,  our Luminary kits are hand packaged and include Premium (Clean and Dry) sand, 12 bags and 12 candles for your use. They also include a participant information card that tells about the participants packaging your luminary kits and what your purchase can and will mean for them.

I will be following up with you in the upcoming months and sending additional information regarding “Christmas in July” for the 2022 year. If you find that you have any questions or comments before then, please don’t hesitate to reach out. My contact information can be found below.

  1. Betty, you are so not a relic! And it may have taken a long time to reinstate this Christmas tradition in Marsh Creek, we’re hoping it will continue. Let there be light!

  2. Whoops … thanks for the historical correction, Betty. You were the original Luminary Pioneer!!

  3. Not to lessen the excitement and success of the Christmas Illumination, I must tell you this is NOT the first! I moved here Here December 1989, the coldest in our history. I live near the bridge on MPC and my family joined in with other neighbors in the candle/sand/white paper bag project. Luckily With my large family we were able to accomplish the project from the bridge to my home. No easy task with the cold that year!! We had few homes then as I was #18, but we should try to to appreciate historical relics – like me!
