Friday, December 13th Sundown (rain date 14th)
It’s time again to kick off the Holidays with Marsh Creek’s annual neighborhood Luminary Extravaganza, otherwise known as our Night of Lights.
For newcomers, this is the evening when we line the streets with lighted candles to kick off the Holiday festivities. In the glow of the lights, there have been known to be street parties, food and drink, music and the camaraderie that makes Marsh Creek a great place to live.
Supplies – the where and how
For supplies … remember this weekend craft stores (Hobby Lobby, Michael’s…) and Amazon may have sales on the candles and small paper bags you’ll need. (Thicker bags with handles proved to be the best to withstand the humidity and potential for rain). The sand? Well, there is a nearby beach as a last resort.
Another popular option is Pine Castle, a non-profit in Jacksonville that sells complete luminary kits with the proceeds supporting adults with intellectual and developmental challenges. The link is http://pinecastle.org/holiday-luminaria-kits/.
And, if you’re going to be spending the holidays in town, get some extra for Christmas Eve and light up your street one more time!

I use Votive candle holders, the glass ones, then there is no need for the sand. It works great!
Happy Holidays!
