St. Augustine Historical Society Presents St. Augustine Surf Culture Museum
The St. Augustine Historical Society will open the St. Augustine Surf Culture Museum at the Oldest House Museum Complex (14 St. Francis Street) on Friday, May 14 at 10:00 am.
The St. Augustine Surf Culture Museum is based on over 70 oral history interviews and features memorabilia, photographs, and videos from the local community. Visitors will not only learn about surfing in St. Augustine for the last 100 years, but the new exhibit is also in the newly restored historic Tovar House.
In tandem with the soft opening of the St. Augustine Surf Culture Museum is the release of the St. Augustine Surf Culture Digital Archives. The goal of the digital archive is to not only contextualize over 100 years of St. Augustine history, but to also represent the contributions, narratives, images, videos, and interviews offered by our community. Our digital site will go live on May 14, 2021 at 10 a.m. and will be accessible at https://stasurfarchive.omeka.net/.
The St. Augustine Surf Culture Museum is included in the general admission to the Oldest House, Five Centuries of the Coast Map Gallery, historic gardens, and general St. Augustine history museum.
