Kayaking Six Mile Creek

By Peter Clayton

The 2022-23 paddling season started in great style today.

Clyde was back as good as ever – enjoyed perfect weather – welcomed Stan Hill to his initial outing – saw the barred owl about the same area as last time (good spot, Stan) – passed a fisherman fly fishing (a first) – just before turning around we passed a self-launch floating platform (that’s what the mile markers are about) – saw the two Fire Dragon air boats from Pacetti’s – enjoyed another Woodpeckers feast with Red Ale from Old Coast Brewery (thanks, Mike).

Clyde and Craig took photos.

Weather permitting, we’re going back to weekly outings on Wednesdays, paddling locally before setting off for an overnight trip maybe in October.

Hopefully we’ll get more participation especially from our newer members. Next week will be Julington Creek from Palmetto Leaves Park to Clark’s Fish Camp with lunch at Julington Creek Fish Camp.
