Conditions were perfect on the morning of Feb 12th – bright sky, nice temps, slight breeze from the SW and high tide as we launched.
While prepped our boats to set off we admired a fellow kayaker who had everything possible to fish including three rods, an electric motor with two backup batteries and gear galore – very impressive.

Our route took us under the US 1 bridge and the opportunity to admire some lovely homes set high on bluffs overlooking the creek. We even had an FEC train rattle by, just before we went under its bridge.
After an hour we turned for home as there aren’t any halfway rest stops.
Bird sightings included kingfishers, plovers and a pair of canvasback ducks plus the usual great blue herons, great egrets and snowy egrets. Ned Skinner joined us for lunch at Ned’s Southside Kitchen which was outstanding as usual.
