Our next presentation will be Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at the Anastasia Branch library in Sea Grove.   

The February presentation will be the first of 4 presentations on William Tecumseh Sherman, the second most successful Union General in the Civil War, second only to Ulysses S. Grant.

The first presentation will highlight “Uncle Billy’s“ early years, attendance at West Point, his role in founding LSU, his triggering of the California Gold Rush, his rebellion from command due to insanity, his redemption at the Battle of Shiloh, and his close and lasting relationship with Grant.

Following presentations will address Sherman’s Atlanta campaign and his March to the Sea; his campaigns in both Carolinas, all of which implemented the Union Strategy of “Hard War” and which greatly contributed to the demise of the Confederacy.
