We were in the water by 9:20 and out by 11:40 – never did we see the sun – so much for “partly cloudy”! It was in the high 40s when we launched and low 50s when we pulled out with enough breeze that no one shed a layer during our paddle and the short pants guys were second guessing a bit.
But Haw was beautiful as captured by Theo and Stan. New foliage on the trees, especially the cypress, greened up the surroundings and there were even some shoreline plants in bloom. Several pileated woodpeckers flew across the water in front of us and kingfishers did their usual “follow us” fly-bys and Stan got a smallish gator closeup.
It was still cool during lunch at the Bantam Chef but on the way home the sun finally came out. Thanks to all participants – especially our photogs. Stay tune for a special event next Wednesday.
