Food, Wine, Beer and History Events Underway in May

St. Augustine – This year, more than ever, there are so many ways to cherish the time you spend exploring new fun adventures in America’s oldest city and along her coast.

The St. Augustine Food + Wine Festival and the 3rd Annual St. Augustine Craft Brewers’ Fest will be making a big splash in the nation’s oldest city this weekend. The St. Augustine Food + Wine Festival celebrates the region’s culinary, beverage and culture and highlights celebrity guest chefs, celebrity winemakers/proprietors, local chefs, artisans and local craft spirits/beers. This year, there is an added fun event: Cinco de Mayo Tacos & Tequila Lunch. Set at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, this exciting festival offers a wide variety of events for all tastebuds, from wine dinners and tasting events, to master classes and more.

On Saturday, May 6, the St. Augustine Craft Brewers’ Fest will feature an afternoon of great music, great food and great craft brews. The event is taking place at the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park from 1–5 p.m. with unlimited samples from over 25 local and regional breweries such as Dog Rose Brewing, Old Coast Ales, Ancient City Brewing, BOG Brewing Company and many more.

Things will really sizzle on May 12 & 13 during the Annual Masters of Fire & Ice Event at Asadolife. This collaboration of chefs and bartenders share their passion and artistry for a great cause: Epic-Cure, a regional organization that focuses on eliminating food waste, feeding families with food insecurities and teaching children and veterans’ health and well-being through cooking classes.

This brilliant event features many local and national open fire cooking stars including The Asadolife’s own Chef Matt Brown, Executive Chef Sean Woods from Amelia Island Club, Chef Eric Butcher from PGA Tour Global; and many others for the ultimate live fire experience. And mixing it up with Masters of Craft Cocktails, Jon Mater, Josh Davis, Koky Lopez, Kelley Fitzsimonds, to name just a few, will be delivering the icy cocktails during the event’s cocktail making exhibition.

And, to make it even more exciting, an all-women celebrity Pit Master Crew, Girl Carnivore, Chef Kita Roberts; Chopped Champion, Merry Graham; Girls Can Grill, Christie Vanover; and Beach Girl Grills, Nicole Stover will be handling the large whole animal roast.

St. Augustine, the oldest city in the United States, is an obvious destination for anyone with an interest in history. And although the city’s fascinating story is there to explore daily, the St. Augustine History Festival which takes place May 10-14, allows participants to immerse themselves in the city’s past during four full days filled with expert presentations, demonstrations, tours and historical encounters.

The St. Augustine History Festival takes place at multiple historic sites including Lincolnville Museum & Cultural Center, Fort Mose State Historic Park, the Castillo de San Marcos, the Colonial Quarter and the Fountain of Youth Archeological Park, to name a few. American history began here, and no one tells our story better than the historians, reenactors, and story tellers that will be on hand throughout the weekend.

Through May 14, the Romanza Festivale of the Arts brings together a collection of arts community to showcase dozens of concerts and other arts events taking place in and around St. Augustine.

Highlighted performances include May 6: Akia Uwanda at Flagler College Lewis Auditorium; May 10: Raquel Rubi – Romanza Cubana at The Waterworks; May 11: Mama Blue at Markland; May 14: St. Paul AME Anniversary Concert, as well as many other artful performances at venues throughout the area.
