Concerts-in-the Park Discontinued

By Mohammed and Sharon Mirzai

Concert in the park was fun, wasn’t it?

It was a safe, enjoyable  monthly social event during the  dark, bad ol’ of days  of isolation, sequestering and social distancing. It gave us an opportunity to be with one another again, to chat, to vent and celebrate this great place we call home. It gave us a renewed appreciation for the value of human connection and the recognition of just how much we hated the pandemic for robbing us of it.

It also gave us an appreciation for the magical venue that is the community park.

But at last there’s good news. The pandemic is manageable; bars, restaurants, sports arenas, theaters and music venues are all open for business nationwide , to our collective delight. We have entertainment options again! These wonderful developments reduced community reliance on the Marsh Creek Concert in The Park series.

It is for all these good reasons that we’ve decided the discontinue the concerts knowing full well that some of our “groupies” will be disappointed (we include ourselves in that category).

We had a good run; nearly three years, 30 concerts, seven bands, hundreds of spectators. Thank you one and all for your support and for making it such a success. We extend our gratitude to all the bands for their willingness to work for tips (though when the collection jar was light, we made sure they were still adequately compensated).

The Haszards

A special thanks to our former-neighbors-and-still friends, the Haszards who generously agreed to kick off the project and became our 1st band to perform. Not to mention that they offered perform for free (they did not go home empty handed). A special thanks also goes to our neighbor, friend and a one-man-show Dan Mantini for not only playing for us but contributing all his tips plus  making significant out of pocket financial contributions to support S.A.F.E.

Have a safe and wonderful holiday season,  and please stay tuned…Who knows, we may have an occasional event in future.

  1. Thank you Sharon and Mohammed. You put a lot of time effort and money into those wonderful concerts. We had to miss some of them and it was disappointing to do so.
I hope you’ll do it again in the Spring and it’s up to those of us who enjoy the concerts to get people to come. They don’t know what they’re missing!!!

  2. Thank you so much for all the arranging you did for these concerts. It was a wonderful thing to do for our community!

  3. You omitted the biggest “thanks” of all. The Community thanks the two of you for not only coming up with a terrific idea, but dedicating so much of your time and, sadly because at times the tips were inadequate, your money to make the events such a success. It is neighbors like you that make Marsh Creek such a special place to live. I’m hoping that a “reunion concert” will occur at some point in the future so that we can once again enjoy the festivities.

    1. Thanks Brent, it would be good to have occasional one, wouldn’t it? Have a wonderful holiday season and thanks again.
