Picturing a Nation: American Art from the Lightner Museum

Picturing a Nation is a major installation of American paintings and sculpture from the Lightner Museum’s permanent collection. From America’s great vistas and natural wonders, to intimate scenes of St. Augustine, Picturing a Nation presents a vibrant vision of America on a local and national scale through late-19th and early 20th century American art. Bouke de Vries: War & Pieces at Lightner Museum

This exhibition of London-based Dutch artist Bouke De Vries’ War & Pieces has been described as a “masterwork” by art critics. The monumental artwork, crafted from thousands of fragments of porcelain, reimagines the decorative centerpieces that adorned seventeenth- and eighteenth-century banquet tables. Miniature Marvels at St. Augustine Art Association

Masterpieces do not always have to be big and grand to make a huge impression! Sometimes it is the smaller things that solicit a closer and more intimate observation from the viewer. Experience a visually enthralling exhibit as you immerse yourself in a world of minuscule sights. The works in this exhibit are no larger than 12 inches and reveal little marvels in a vast range of mediums and subjects. This exhibit will take place at the St. Augustine Art Association located at 22 Marine Street in historic downtown. Cultural Lights of St. Augustine with Historian David Nolan

Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine host author and historian David Nolan who will highlight some of the famous authors, artists, and musicians who have lived or visited St. Augustine. The focus is on various luminous figures such as Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings and Zora Neale Hurston; artists like Martin Johnson Heade, Randolph Caldecott, and Jacob Lawrence; and musical figures such as composer Frederick Delius and performer Ray Charles. Exhibition: BFA & BA Senior Portfolio Exhibition at Crisp Ellert Art Museum

Gamble Rogers Music Festival

More than 30 musical acts celebrate music in memory of the great songwriter Gamble Rogers. A Classic Theatre presents “The Immigrant”

Immigration is the story of America. The setting is rural Texas in 1909 when Haskell Harelik, a nineteen year-old Russian emigre, arrives at the port of Galveston. Far from his native land and struggling with an alien language, Haskell becomes a penny-a-piece fruit peddler in and around the small town of Hamilton and eventually attains success as a merchant and community leader. Guided Exploration Hike of the GTM Research Reserve

From 9-11 a.m., visitors can learn about the cultural history of the Guana Peninsula as well as the natural biodiversity during a guided hike. Find out about the peninsula’s 5,000 years of human history, including how native peoples used estuarine resources, what European plantation life was like, and current efforts to learn about and save these resources.
