Topics: As the Spoonbill Courier grows, other directions and areas of interest will emerge. But the initial crop have been categorized as:
Marsh Creek Community: Anything about the homeowner community, its people, and its happenings.
Around Town & County: Notices of coming events, and digests of recent events by homeowners who attended and wish to provide a report and photos. Under this heading can be important developments in the City of St. Augustine, St. Augustine Beach and larger St. Johns County.
Entertainment & Dining: What’s happening on the St. Augustine’s entertainment and dining scene, including concert and restaurant reviews.
Sale / Wanted: A current list of items for sale or purchase, lapsing (but renewable) after 2 weeks.
The Writer’s Block: What may very well become the core of the Spoonbill Courier, a platform for budding writers, or frustrated experienced authors needing an outlet. Topics can range far afield: creative think pieces, profiles of someone interesting you know, introductions into things about which many homeowners are not familiar or haven’t tried (skydiving?), analysis of national and world developments, just about anything. One caveat: we live in divided times, and so outright political screeds may be “blue-penciled” by the editor.
Travel Blog: Here is another area expected to be popular. So many in this community love to travel, and love to talk about where they have been and what they have seen and experienced. Here is your stage! After all, what are all those photos for, anyway? Write about it, and the rest of us can live vicariously for a few minutes. And maybe, plan a visit of our own.
Yummy Recipes: Louise Nelson has in past contributed many good recipes to the Marsh Creek Journal, and will continue to do so for the Spoonbill Courier. But she wants other chefs and cooks to share their best as well, and nixed having this named after her again.
Weather: Alerts on impending storms
