A recent post pointed out that Marsh Creek members may limit their voting in the upcoming Board of Directors election to a single candidate. The implication being that doing so is the best way to ensure that your preferred candidate is elected.

Not only does this practice tend to promote the election of polarizing candidates beholden to a segment of the community as opposed to the whole, but it fundamentally misunderstands the goal of the election. It is not a beauty pageant. We are not attempting to designate “The Winner”. Rather, we are identifying the three (3) best  candidates to serve on our Board of Directors. If you are not familiar with all of the candidates, solicit advice from a friend or someone who is familiar with community matters.

Remember that regardless of how you personally vote, three (3) candidates are going to be elected. Use all of your votes to make certain that the best three (3) candidates are elected. Don’t throw away two (2) of your votes just because you have a favorite candidate.
