Lenny Foster Photography Exhibition: “Where We Stand”

St. Johns Cultural Council presents an Art in Public Spaces exhibition featuring the fine art photography of Lenny Foster. “Where We Stand” provides a glimpse into the rich African American history of Florida’s Historic Coast. The exhibit is on display 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday- Friday, through April 22, 2022. Admission is free. St. Johns County Administration, 500 San Sebastian View, St. Augustine. Karen Hampton Exhibition: Origins

Karen Hampton’s Origins, will be on exhibition at the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum. Hampton’s work utilizes hand-woven textiles, digital prints and embroidery on cloth, and hand dyed fabrics to consider her own lineage, and how these individuals are connected to Black American history within Spanish Florida, the United States, and the African Diaspora. Crisp-Ellert Art Museum is located at 48 Sevilla St., St. Augustine. The Gallery is open Mon-Fri 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Picturing a Nation: American Art from the Lightner Museum

Picturing a Nation is a major installation of American paintings and sculpture from the Lightner Museum’s permanent collection. From America’s great vistas and natural wonders, to intimate scenes of St. Augustine, Picturing a Nation presents a vibrant vision of America on a local and national scale through late-19th and early 20th century American art. The exhibition runs through September 30, 2022. Lightner Museum is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily and tickets are $17 for adults, $14 for seniors and students and $10 ages 12-17, under 11 are free. Minorcan Art Exhibition at Oldest House Museum Complex

March is Minorcan Heritage Month in St. Augustine . The Minorcan presence along Florida’s Historic Coast is traced back to 1768, when Scottish speculator Dr. Andrew Turnbull cast his sight on an indigo plantation in New Smyrna. After years of strife and starvation, the Greeks and Minorcans working the plantation relocated to St. Augustine and have been an important part of the city’s cultural heritage since. Click here to learn how you can experience more of St. Augustine’s Minorcan Heritage.

Miniature Marvels

Masterpieces do not always have to be big and grand to make a huge impression! Sometimes it is the smaller things that solicit a closer and more intimate observation from the viewer. Experience a visually enthralling exhibit as you immerse yourself in a world of minuscule sights. The works in this exhibit are no larger than 12 inches and reveal little marvels in a vast range of mediums and subjects. This exhibit will take place at the St. Augustine Art Association located at 22 Marine Street in historic downtown. Gallery Hours are Tuesdays through Sundays 1-4 p.m. The Miniature Marvels exhibit can be viewed in person and online at www.staaa.org.

First Friday Garden Walk at Washington Oaks Gardens State Park

Join a Ranger the First Friday of every month for a garden walk. Learn about the history of Washington Oaks while exploring the formal gardens. Marineland Beach Walk

Get to know the beach in an entirely new way. Join this guided walk on Marineland Beach to learn about everything from shore birds to the coquina rocks and flowers blooming along the dunes. Bring your camera for a likely shot of one of the dune’s residents, the gopher tortoise. Programs are capped at 10 people per hike. This walk is free, but registration required. First Friday Art Walk

Join Art Galleries of St. Augustine the first Friday of every month from 5-9 p.m. for new exhibits, refreshments and live music at many participating galleries. For easy mobility downtown, patrons and visitors can enjoy the complimentary shuttle service that runs from 6-9 p.m. provided by Old Town Trolleys. To use this service, shuttle stickers may be picked up at any participating AGOSA gallery. This exhibition of London-based Dutch artist Bouke De Vries’ War & Pieces has been described as a “masterwork” by art critics. Messiah on the Frigidaire at Limelight Theatre

Guided Exploration Hike of the GTM Research Reserve

From 9-11 a.m., learn about the cultural history of the Guana Peninsula as well as the natural biodiversity during a guided hike. Find out about the peninsula’s 5,000 years of human history, including how native peoples used estuarine resources, what European plantation life was like, and current efforts to learn about and save these resources.
