FP&L Restored Power shortly after 11am.

A power cable connecting to a FP&L utility transformer at the Mizell Rd entrance to the Commodores Club suffered a malfunction at 8:44am this morning. The “live” cable fell to the ground and was discovered in the “live” condition by the FP&L crew that arrived on scene to make repairs.

“That’s why we are told never to step on a down wire, or to get out our car under a downed wire”, warned one FP&L technician on scene.

Repairs continued, with an initial estimate of restoration of power by 3:15pm today overtaken by “lights on” shortly after 11am.

‘Gator Sighting?

While on the scene of the FP&L malfunction, an alligator sighting was reported across the street in the county retention pond.

An unidentified local fisherman, on the property without permission, reported seeing a 6-ft alligator come out of the southern tree line and slip into the water, He spoke to the Spoonbill Courier as he left his location heading toward the gated entrance.

“I am 100% confident it was a ‘gator”, he said.

This reporter did spot a large head emerge once from the pond water as he bicycled away from the FP&L crew, but it was fleeting, offering little in the way of confirmation of a reptilian presence.

Still, until further information emerges, it would be wise to keep a close eye on pets and small children in the Mizell area of Marsh Creek.

The fisherman had his own safety in mind as he and his gear headed to the exit.
