Nine of us set out from Russell’s Landing around 10:30 Wednesday morning under bright skies and headed downstream for the first time in a couple of years. There was a delightful SW breeze which offset the mid-90s temps and provided help crossing Dead Lake.

The new growth on the trees was spectacular and the creek was clear of deadfalls, unlike our last time out. The only other boat we encountered was an airboat – an unusual sight – which was heading back to Russell’s.

Just over two hours later we pulled onto the ramp at Bull Creek Fish Camp where we enjoyed a great meal before heading home. The fish camp is closed Monday and Tuesday and open for breakfast and lunch only the other days – if you want to see rural Florida and enjoy a good meal, it’s less than an hour away.
