The earliest-named “J” storm – Josephine – has formed in the Atlantic, and the “J” could rightly stand for Jitters because of the unusually rapid start to the 2020 hurricane season.
That’s the bad news.
The good news is that Josephine appears to be on a track that, if sustained, may take her out to the mid-Atlantic, and away from the US Eastern seaboard.
Josephine is the earliest 10th named Atlantic storm, potentially bolstering forecasters’ fears of a very busy and potentially destructive season.
The storm was 975 miles east-southeast of the northern Leeward Islands, according to the 11 a.m. advisory from the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami. No coastal watches or warnings had been issued.
