Last Day For Property Value Appeal

Eddie Creamer, St. Johns County Property Appraiser, has alerted us to an important deadline:

Tuesday September 9, (tomorrow at this writing) is the last day to challenge the valuation of your home and property for the upcoming 2026 property tax cycle.

The revelation emerged in pursuit of learning how to challenge the steep jump in property taxes in support of St. Johns County schools many of us received in our property TRIM notices.

The valuation site is called the Value Adjustment Board, tucked neatly away under the Clerk of the County Court. The link is below.

Note: This site DOES NOT OFFER a way to challenge the additional school (and other) taxes all of us in Marsh Creek may be facing in our TRIM notices, and for which a majority of voters (knowingly or unwittingly) approved in a ballot initiative last November. Here, you can only dispute the underlying valuation of your home.

Note: it will cost you $50 to make the application. So, be sure you have some grounds to challenge your home’s value. Good luck!

Remember – to dispute the coming TRIM school taxes, attend the Public Hearing on Public School Local/State Tax Increase on at 5:30pm September 11th at 40 Orange Street,  St Augustine (Public School Office Downtown)
