Wednesday’s paddle combined delightful weather, very high water levels, great company and having the water to ourselves – pretty damn special – and, of course, topped off with an excellent lunch at Julington Creek Fish Camp.
We couldn’t figure out the cause of the high water but the pull out at Hood’s Landing Road was almost totally submerged and the concrete alligator in a yard close to our launch was half under water.
Downed trees evidenced the storms since we last paddled Julington but none blocked our route. Kingfishers, ibis and egrets accompanied us in the early stages as did a couple of manatees.
