Spoonbill Neighbors 3rd Easter Feast Food Drive is under way!
By Louise Nelson
We have just received our supply of shopping bags and a list of needed food items requested by the kind folks at the Homeless Coalition of St. Johns County, and for the third year, we are appealing to Marsh Creek residents to join us in stuffing these bags with Easter food items for the homeless.
Where do I Get a Bag?
They can be picked up at Louise Nelson’s home on 209 Fiddlers Point Drive. For everyone’s convenience the bags will be in the wooden box on the front porch.
Where do I Return the Bags?
All bags can be returned to either Louise Nelson’s home on 209 Fiddlers Point Drive or Patty Damon ‘s home on 408 Players Ct, by March 23rd. They will be delivered to the Homeless Coalition the following day.
Are There Enough Bags?
If we run out of bags – and we hope we do – everyone can simply fill their own large shopping bag and deliver it to either location above.
What Items are Needed?
Boxed Mac & Cheese / Canned Corn / Canned Green Beans / Canned Pineapple / Jello & Canned Fruit / Instant Potatoes, any variety / Cake Mix & Frosting / Easter Candy / Muffin, Roll or Biscuit Mix / Peanut Butter, Jelly & Juice / Canned Meat or Fish.
Can I Give Cash Instead, or, Cash Too?
If you wish, and your schedule or capability precludes shopping for these items, cash donations can be made directly to the St. Johns County Homeless Coalition at https://homelesscoalitionstjohns.com.
And don’t worry about being too generous. All surplus food items will be donated to the St. Johns County Food Pantry.
Thank you for helping the less fortunate in our community celebrate an Easter meal.
